COMPETITIONS – Lanark @ The BMW Bonspiel

19/02/15 – AH – Bill Jackson BJ, Bob Thomson BT, Anne Hood AH and Jack Hood JH enjoyed a day of hospitality from Douglas Park BMW where we turned up at the ice rink for 9.30am to start the day off with coffee/tea and pastries. We then had 2 x 5-end games before tucking into a scrumptious 3-course lunch before heading back to the ice for the last 5-end game. A free bar was provided during the duration of the day.

Twelve teams competed for the BMW Trophy and that included a BMW team – it was great seeing the young gentlemen trying their hand at curling. They actually won 3 ends throughout the tournament and were delighted with this. It’s always good to see people who ‘have a go’ and we thoroughly enjoyed the BMW team’s company and banter.

Lanark received this invitation via Anne Ramsay who was unable to participate due to her sisters coming to stay with her – thanks Anne for passing this over to us as we all had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Unfortunately Bill Jackson was not feeling well : Anne was the driver so Bob and Jack were able to partake of the free bar facilities. Lanark finished within the ‘bottom half’ – it was a schenkel system – so perhaps not our best performance to date.

This competition has been running for 28 years and the BMW boys were thanking us for supporting this fully sponsored day – hey, who wouldn’t?
