COMPETITIONS – Galloway Cup Final – Close Final

06/03/15 – AH The GALLOWAY TROHY & STANDINGS Final took place on Thursday 5th March and Lanark was facing Coulter in the final.  Coulter got off to a good start by picking up 3 shots in the first two ends but Lanark began to fight back and took 1 shot in the next 3 ends – game was all square.  Good tactics were used throughout the game by the skips – Bill Marshall (skip: Coulter) said he knew Bill Jackson was a big hitter so he just wanted to ensure there was nothing for Bill to strike.  Bill Marshall’s plan was to keep stones placed througout the house.

Bill Jackson made a lovely take-out through a small port-hole to steal an end then he hit a cluster of stones ensuring Lanark lay shot with Coulter unable to do anything.  Unfortunately Lanark dropped 3 shots in the penultimate end – all close stones as they were all measured – but this made it difficult for Lanark in the last end.  Coulter claimed the trophy but it was a good game to play, and watch, by the support teams in the bar. The final result 3/7 🙄
