Rotary Garside Trophy – Lanark Members Win!!!!
06/04/16 – AK
Lanark Rotary Win The Garside Curling League
The Garside curling competition is run and played for in the 1230 area mainly at Hamilton but with the anomaly that Lanark from 1020 is considered a founding member because of the geography and strong curling tradition and presence since 1955, its first year, and has been running ever since. Lanark have won it 8 times overall and always take part in the fun and fellowship provided by the 10 or so clubs taking part in two sections. This year’s final provided a nail biting finish against Glasgow Rotary as Lanark were never in front until the very last end, but held their collective nerve to win by one shot. Our team is a mixture of club members who have various curling experience from novice to old hands. We use the after match time to mix with the other clubs, have a drink, relax, chat and see how other Rotarians run their various social and international projects.
Many thanks to the 10 Lanark Members who played over the season.

CONGRATULATIONS to Alistair Mackintosh, Martin Yuill, Bill Tennant and Bill Stewart who won the Rotary Garside (Glasgow League) last night by one shot. Nothing like a close final to get the adrenalin rush!
Although it is a rotary competition, it took Lanark members to win (hi hi).
Well done gentlemen – what a finale to the season.
