Glasgow Ice Centre – Latest
1st July 2020
Glasgow Ice Centre would like to thank all the curling clubs for their communication
regarding the project since our last update. We want to express a special thanks to
everyone who has kindly donated to the project so far.
Today, Glasgow Ice Centre are delighted to announce that we have signed a
contract with IPW Ltd and are progressing with the Feasibility Study. This study will
assess a variety of options and recommend their viability moving forward.
This study will take approximately 12 weeks and will be delivered circa October 2020.
Glasgow Ice Centre will be consulting with all ice groups during this time to
understand what their needs are and how they can be met.
At this stage, this will be done through a series of Q&A sessions. We would like to offer
curling clubs the opportunity for their members to join a specific Zoom Q&A for their
Club with representatives from Glasgow Ice Centre over the course of the next 7
days. Please could you reply to this email with your note of interest if this is something
you would like to arrange.
We will subsequently be hosting a public Zoom Q&A on Tues 14th July at 7pm, and
further Q&A’s with the other ice sports groups.
We deeply value the Glasgow curlers support, opinions and involvement in the
progression of this project. To sign up to our mailing list, offer your suggestions and/or
your additional project skills, please fill in our Google Form .
As announced on our social media channels, Glasgow Ice Centre has received
enough contributions and offers of security to proceed with the Feasibility Study, but
we still require donations to the ‘Fighting Fund’. Every donation, big and small, is
greatly appreciated. Please visit our GoFundMe page to donate.
To support the Glasgow Ice Centre on social media, you can like, follow and share
updates from our platforms: Facebook , Twitter and LinkedIn to help raise as much
awareness of the project as possible in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.
We are keen to involve curlers in every way possible. If you would like to contact us
directly over email please send us a message on glasgowicecentre@gmail.com .
