Anne’s Last Slide – Bridge
EULOGY EXTRACT
“Retirement allowed Anne to pursue new interests, with Bridge becoming a skill she honed. She was a member of the Hamilton Bridge Club along with frequent visits to Biggar Bridge Club with her partner Mary. Both enjoyed playing online as well”
HAMILTON BRIDGE CLUB
Always enjoying card games, with Anne taking early retirement from the teaching profession in 2010 she was able to pursue an interest she had in the game of Bridge.
Following Anne Ramsay’s advice (Lanark Curling Club – Secretary & Bridge Player) she attended Hamilton Bridge Club’s – Beginner Classes.
The following was provided by:
Mary Mackenzie (Anne’s Bridge Partner)
We were members of HAMILTON BRIDGE CLUB (HBC), that was our “mother club” as Anne liked to call it. We played regularly there both F2F and online.
Anne was keen on online bridge, as was I, we often played while I was away abroad or up in Stornoway. In fact we played together just six days before she passed away while I was in Majorca.
We went to the GLASGOW BRIDGE CENTRE most Tuesday afternoons before the pandemic and joined GBC as ‘country members’. We played at the GBC every week during the pandemic. We were also asked to join a team online and asked if we would continue as members of that team but unfortunately Anne had been diagnosed by then and was starting treatment and could not commit to a team.
We also joined BIGGAR BRIDGE CLUB. We went there regularly before the pandemic
And played online during lockdown.
After we played there regularly on Tuesday afternoons. She is much missed there.
She was supportive and very pleasant to play with. I miss her very much.
