CLYDESDALE TROPHY

BACKGROUND

The Clydesdale Trophy was originally held on a day during the week between Christmas and New Year. Over the years it has ‘migrated’ to an early date in late November early December.

HISTORY

Originally the  competition was sponsored by the now defunct Clydesdale District Council (a ‘sub’ district of the now defunct Strathclyde Regional Council). As a consequence of local government re-organisation in 1990’s,  support is now provided by South Lanarkshire Council’s sub district – Clydesdale.
